TTI is seeking an Head of Compliance, MLRO and Data Protection  for one of our top clients. Our client is an insurance company based in Malta.



Tasks

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy aligned with the Company's underwriting objectives and regulatory obligations
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and external auditors ensuring a constructive and transparent relationship
  • Focal point for all Anti money Laundering (AML) and counter terrorism financing (CFT) activities, ensuring effective system and controls to prevent financial crime
  • Provide expert compliance advice to the Board and Senior Management on regularoty developments and their impact on the long term classes of business carried out
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and internal standards applicable to long terms classes of insurance business, including AML/CFT, sanctions compliance and Data Protection Laws
  • Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements, assessing their impact and advising on necessary adjustments to policies, procedures and processes
  • Oversee regulatory reporting and submissions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Develop, implement and maintain AML, data protection and compliance policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessment, identifying potential vulnerabilities and recommending mitigations
  • Collaborate with the Risk Management Function to ensure that compliance is integrated into the Company's risk management framework
  • Receive internal STRS re knowledge or suspicion of ML/FT and conduct the required checks in order to evaluate whether knowledge or suspicion of ML/FT sussists
  • Submit external STRS re knowledge or suspicion of ML/FT to the FIAU within the timelines established by the appropriate regulatory framework - retaining the applicable documentary evidence where reports are not submitted externally
  • Ensure that yearly reporting obligations (REQ/BRA) to the FIAU are submitted
  • Ensure that adequate and up to date AML/CFT related training is provided to all staff and intermediaries on a regular basis periodical checks are completed intended to confirm adherence to current policies and procedures
  • Monitor the upkeep of the Company's AML Handbook
  • Ensure complaince with GDPRand local protection laws
  • Oversee and manage responses to data breach and incidents including investigation, containment, mitigation and internal/external reporting
  • Provide risk-based advice on data protection aspects of new projects, products and services. Serve as main point of contact for data protectionqueries/requests from employees, customers and external stakeholders
  • Oversee the management of data subject rights, including access, rectification, erasure and requests
  • Oversee the performance and effectiveness of the team

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business, Economics or Law
  • Compliance and AML related certifications or credentials
  • Significant exposure to insurance business
  • In depth knowledge of insurance regulations, governance standards, AML/CFT and Data Protection frameworks
  • Proven track record of interreacting with regulatory bodies
  • Strong understanding of long term business and associated risks
  • Previous MLRO experience preferably in a leadership role with sound knowledge of the local & EU regulatory tools implementing Data Protection requirements
  • Strategic thinking and ability to align compliance with business objectives
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accountable, Organised, Meticulous and able to handle tight deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and provide practical solutions
  • Strong negotiating and relationship building skills
